I am a painter and writer living in Chicago.

I am a fan of the sumptuous. Of the tactile and the heavy and the indulgent. This applies to both mediums with which I work. Each piece, whether poem or painting, aims to express the richness of human experience. I consider my paintings objects that combine the sculptural with the two-dimensional, striving to embody a physical presence rather than just a means of conveyance. With this, I paint with loyalty to the materials I use, embracing the texture of canvas, the imperfection of frame, the varied quality of paint.

My poems communicate this same abundance, but in a quieter and more self deprecating way. Through my writing, I try to illuminate the imperfections of life, marrying context and personal anecdote with a universal applicability that says I am human, and no different from anyone.
